What data we do not process

Onion Accounts Ltd provides the software back end for your accounting system to submit VAT returns to HMRC. This privacy notice relates to the processing of personal information by Onion Accounts Ltd software. For any other processing of personal information by the accounts software, please contact your accounts software provider.

The Onion Accounts Ltd software back end is not to be used for VAT registered individuals, only for corporate entities. As such all accounting information processed is not personal information.

What data we process

The only information collected or processed by the Onion Accounts Ltd software that could be considered in any way personal information is data about the users browser and operating system (including IP addresses) that is collected to be passed to HMRC as part of HMRC Fraud prevention headers. These are detailed by HMRC here.

Your rights

You have lots of rights in respect of our processing of your personal data, and you can exercise most of them yourself:

• The right to information about our processing of your data, as set out in this notice.
• The right of access to personal data we hold about you, and the right to data portability. Onion Accounts Ltd does not retain the information passed to HMRC, and as such this right does not apply to Onion Accounts Ltd. You can contact HMRC to request data that has been passed to HMRC.
• The right to have inaccurate data corrected. Onion Accounts Ltd does not retain the information passed to HMRC, and as such this right does not apply to Onion Accounts Ltd. If you believe incorrect data has been passed to HMRC, please contact them to exercise your right to have that data corrected.
• The right to erasure of your data, in some situations. Please check Articles 17 and 18 of the GDPR to make sure the rights apply to what you are wanting to do before contacting us. Onion Accounts Ltd does not retain the information passed to HMRC, and as such this right does not apply to Onion Accounts Ltd. If you would like data passed to HMRC to be erased, please contact HMRC.
• The right to restrict processing, and the right to object to processing, in some situations. Please check Articles 17 and 18 of the GDPR to make sure the rights apply to what you are wanting to do before contacting us. As data is only processed by Onion Accounts Ltd to meet legal requirements, this option does not apply. If you would like to ask for restriction of processing or to object to processing of data passed to HMRC, please contact HMRC.
• The right to complain to a supervisory authority, although we will obviously try to put right anything we have got wrong long before you need to do that,
